Nritta- a skill that has been the Achilles heel of my dance. Even though I recently finished my arangetram, I still struggle with maintaining a perfect aramandi, moving my feet to a microsecond’s precision and making my adavus super clean. But, that is absolutely no excuse- nritta makes up so much of Bharatanatyam, it what makes it different from acting. The thing is, no matter how skilled a dancer is, nritta takes constant practice and immense athleticism. Over the course of my arangetram training, I figured out what works for me- and of course, what definitely doesn’t. If you’re already amazing at nritta- good for you! If you’re not- these warmups, workouts, adavu exercises, etc will definitely help in some way. I feel like I should come up with a catchy name for these, but I haven’t come up with anything, so I’ll work on that.
